Aspera Unveils Next Generation at NAB 2008

High-speed File Transfer Technology Pioneer Introduces Advanced Transfer Management System, New Plug-ins for Avid®, Apple® and Digidesign® Software, and Breakthroughs in Content Security and Bandwidth Control

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, (NAB Show Booth #SU15509), April 14, 2008 -- Aspera Inc, the pioneering company behind market-leading file transfer technologies deployed throughout the media and entertainment industry, today introduced multiple innovations in its software product line, directly aimed at meeting the ever more demanding requirements of all-digital media transfer workflows.

On the fifth anniversary of its first NAB appearance, Aspera unveiled Aspera Console, a much-anticipated network-wide transfer management system allowing comprehensive centralized control over global environments running Aspera transfers. Bringing high-speed transfer capability directly to content creators, Aspera also introduced a suite of plug-ins for the leading audio and video production software from Avid®, Apple® and Digidesign®. And, extending its technological leadership in bandwidth control, performance and security, Aspera introduced several new capabilities in its fasp™ 2.0 file transfer software suite.

"We are grateful that the technology seed we brought to NAB five years ago has grown to be responsible for transporting many terabytes of media files daily," said Michelle Munson and Serban Simu, co-founders of Aspera, Inc. "Content creators, post houses, film and television studios, broadcasters, cable/VOD service providers, content delivery networks, and a multitude of other new and traditional channels worldwide, use Aspera technology to transfer huge volumes of media globally each day."

"We have been listening very closely to our customers and observing their experiences in their environments," added Munson and Simu. "The scale and complexity of the transfer workflows that Aspera technology powers have grown explosively, and the need for global management, extended access, improved bandwidth control and increased security has grown accordingly. We have focused our latest technology and product innovation on new capabilities and tools that aim to extend transfer performance, security, and manageability to the extraordinary levels the media and entertainment industry's conversion to all-digital operations demands."

Aspera unveils Aspera Console

Aspera Console is Aspera's highly anticipated advanced, network-wide transfer management software system. Through Aspera Console, administrators have comprehensive, centralized control and visibility over global network environments running high-speed transfers between multiple Aspera endpoints such as Aspera Point-to-Point and Aspera Enterprise Server. Administrators have high-level and drilldown visibility into all transfer jobs and transferring endpoints, including job progress, expected finish times, and bandwidth performance, the ability to launch one-time and repeat transfer jobs that span two or more nodes in a network, centralized control over the absolute speed and bandwidth priority of individual transfers and groups in aggregate, and centralized configuration of a network of many Aspera endpoints. Aspera Console will be available in the summer of 2008.

Aspera announces Aspera Cargo Plug-ins for Avid®, Apple® and Digidesign® software

With the launch of the new Aspera Cargo Plug-ins for leading audio and video production software from Avid®, Apple® and Digidesign®, content creators and editors can take advantage of Aspera transfer capability from within their editing applications, moving media over long distance, high bandwidth and difficult networks at speeds up to 1000x native transfers. Aspera Cargo Plug-ins allow users of Avid Media Composer®, Avid Newscutter®, Digidesign Pro Tools® and Apple Final Cut Pro® to directly upload entire projects from within their familiar work environment to any computer running Aspera server software. Aspera Console will be available in the summer of 2008.

Aspera unveils the next generation of its fasp™ file transfer software suite

Aspera is introducing multiple enhancements to its high-speed file transfer software suite, offering new functionality, enhanced usability, security and performance as well as extended operating system and platform support. A new content protection capability extends Aspera's state-of-the-art security with encryption and per-recipient authorization through all stages of transfer and storage. With Aspera's patent-pending Virtual Link technology, large groups of transfers are regulated to maintain a target aggregate bandwidth cap, with the option to prioritize the bandwidth of individual transfers within the group on-demand, and to schedule bandwidth policies by time of day. With this breakthrough capability, service providers will, for the first time, be able to segment the transfers for groups of users into bandwidth classes and to offer both best-effort and guaranteed transfer times, even at global distances, to users within the same class.

Aspera will also demonstrate the next generation of its popular desktop transfer GUI for Aspera Client and Point-to-Point featuring multi-transfer queuing, scheduling, and bandwidth and order prioritization. Built-in visibility and bandwidth control for both client- and server-side transfers including manual, scheduled and automatic sync round up this new feature set.

Enhanced with HTTP failover for universal access, the Aspera Connect browser plug-in is upgraded in a new, slimmer form, with added support for Firefox browsers on Linux completing support for all major browsers and operating systems. Aspera also wraps up cross-platform support for its server products by introducing IBM AIX and Linux on Itanium platform-support for Aspera Enterprise Server.

All of these next-generation products will be released through Q2 and Q3 2008.

DigiDelivery integrates Aspera's product line

Last fall, Aspera acquired DigiDelivery, the simple, secure file exchange system developed by Avid'ss Digidesign audio division. DigiDelivery is now a fully fledged member of the Aspera product line as Aspera is introducing new service options and software updates, and announced upcoming interoperability between DigiDelivery and Aspera's faspex digital package delivery system.

Aspera-powered solutions take center stage at NAB

While Aspera standalone solutions have now been deployed at several hundred leading digital media companies worldwide, Aspera also enjoys strong ties with an ever-increasing number of industry-leading partners who have fully integrated fasp™ high-speed transport technology. Numerous Aspera-powered solutions from ISILON Systems, GLOBALedit, Microsoft, HP, North Plains, Technicolor, Vfinity, AboveNet and many more are in use today and being demonstrated at NAB. Aspera invites NAB attendees to see demonstrations of many of these in the main stage of its booth throughout the show.

"Our technology has contributed to the creation of a new and thriving market space for high-speed file transfer solutions," concluded Munson and Simu. "We are grateful to our customers for their enthusiastic deployment and feedback that have informed the development of our new products and functionality. We look forward to sharing these capabilities with customers at NAB 2008 and implementing in the year ahead."
