Aspera’s patented fasp™ technology is a next-generation transport protocol that eliminates the latency and packet loss bottlenecks of traditional file transfer paradigms such as FTP, HTTP, NFS and CIFS. By enabling high performance fasp™ data transport to, from and between remote cloud infrastructures, Aspera On-Demand allows AWS users to fully realize the scalability, efficiency gains and cost savings offered by the EC2 and S3 platforms.
With Aspera On-Demand for AWS, users have the freedom to transfer files at their full bandwidth capacity – hundreds of times faster than conventional technologies – with the assurance that highly valuable content will be moved and stored reliably, in total security.
Particularly aimed at data-intensive applications – such as video transcoding, media asset management, 3D animation and visual effects rendering, genomic sequence processing, large database hosting and more – Aspera On-Demand for AWS will benefit any workflow involving data transfers to, from and within the cloud.

Pricing:
Aspera On-Demand has three pricing components, two from Aspera, one from Amazon Web Services (AWS):
-
Aspera software subscription (fixed cost per subscriber): $750/month ($25/day) prorated and billed on a monthly basis. This fixed cost is independent of the number of AMI instances running (i.e. you could have 1 or 10 Aspera On-Demand instances and subscription cost would still be $750/month). True to the AWS pay-as-you-go model, there is a cancel at any time policy, the $750 is refunded on a prorated monthly basis (i.e the number of days remaining in the month). You must unsubscribe from the Aspera software subscription to get the refund.
-
Aspera transport cost (variable cost): $0.15/GB (~$150/TB) moved in and out of all Aspera AMI's, billed monthly.
- AWS infrastructure costs (variable cost): e.g. EC2 hours, EBS volumes, data transport, S3 storage etc, billed monthly.
All billing is done through Amazon. There is no interaction with Aspera. Aspera and AWS costs are billed to the credit card registered with the AWS billing account.
