- Error Code 9: Duplicate license
One of the most frequent setup problems our customers have with Aspera software is making sure they do not use the same license key at both endpoints. If we allowed the use of the same license key at more than one endpoint in a file transfer, it would be possible to buy one license and use it on an arbitrary number of computers. This would render our licensing scheme useless.
To solve this duplicate license problem, verify that you have a different license key on each computer that you intend to use as an endpoint for transfers.
- Error Code 10: Rate exceeds cap imposed by license
The licenses for Aspera Enterprise Server and Aspera Scp are distributed with certain amount of bandwidth, the application only allows you to transfer within the bandwidth limitation. If your network environment has higher bandwidth, you can contact us sales@asperasoft.com for further detail.
- Error Code 29: Unable to access license info
You see this error message if the license is missing or not entered yet. On Windows and Mac OS X, you can enter the license in Aspera Scp GUI (Toolbar -> Tools -> Change License Key). On other operating systems, the license is stored in the file /opt/aspera/etc/fasplicense.txt.
- Error Code 30: License expired
Aspera routinely grants temporary licenses to potential customers who want to test our software before purchase. These temporary licenses typically expire within a month. Sometimes prospects who decide to purchase our software forget to insert their new license. You can check on the status of your Aspera license by typing this at the command prompt:
# ascp -A
The output from this command includes the license expiration date. If your license has expired and you do not have a newer one in an email from Aspera Sales, please email sales@asperasoft.com for a replacement.
- Error Code 38: Operation not permitted by license
If you have purchased a license for Aspera Enterprise Server but have not bought the Web add-on, your license only allows connections from Aspera Scp Client, Aspera Scp Point-to-Point or other Aspera Enterprise Servers. This message occurs when you attempt to use Aspera Connect with an Enterprise Server that does not have Web support.
